I am absolutely heartbroken seeing the horrific videos of babies and families openly being terrorized, tortured, and murdered out in the open. It is absolutely appalling and devastating and breaks my heart. As human beings, how can anyone not be consumed with sadness by the horrific events that we will not be able to unsee? So many innocent lives have been taken already and civilians are paying the greatest price there is.
No matter the side you are on or how you have been triggered, our empathetic hearts should always be open and have room for compassion towards innocent victims regardless of where we come from or our beliefs.
Empathy is a strange and powerful thing. There is no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of: You’re not alone! Empathy is connecting with the emotion that someone is experiencing, not the event or the circumstance.
With that, to all of my Jewish friends and family: know that I love you and I support you. I am here to listen and hold space. I want you to know that you are not alone. I am so proud of each and everyone of you for staying true to who you are, and I value you and your emotions.
I see you. I hear you. I love you. And I pray for peace.
Luv, Liv
